I found this challenge last night and my head was spinning with ideas all night. I couldn’t wait for morning to make something pretty. Their suggested colors for the challenge were magenta, teal and light gray.
Fun, eh? But guess what – I didn’t have much of those colors. Thank goodness I had just bought a pallete of Artist’s Loaf 36 piece watercolors from Michael’s. All the colors I needed were there. Since I was working with watercolors and had to dilute my black to light gray, I couldn’t work with Recollection’s cardstock because I was afraid the cardstock would warp. I used Canson watercolor pad instead. And here is the card I came up with:
Putting the card together was very easy. To give the card the look it has now, I stamped the image on watercolor paper then stamped it once again on a white card stock, cut the image out using Tim Holtz intricate scissors before coloring it with teal and rose Zig Markers and gray and black Crayola Classic Markers. Lastly, I put the image together using pop dots to give it a 3D effect. The watercolored hearts are done with the help of Heidi Swapp’s Confetti stencil. Once everything was put together, corners were shaped using a medium corner punch and again, the layer and the base card were put together using the pop dots. The inside was left blank.
